At the start of the year, we outlined some of the key goals we wanted to achieve as a business.

One of these was to introduce more natural and organic fabrics into our collections. And so, we were set on developing Sleepwear in fabrics that were natural, organic, biodegradable, and with a low carbon footprint and water usage. 

Why organic cotton?

We often hear that clothing is made with organic cotton but what does this actually mean, and why is it different to traditional cotton? Organic cotton is grown from non-GMO seeds and without the use of pesticides and harmful chemicals, using up to 71% less water than conventional cotton and emits up to 46% less greenhouse gas. Organic cotton farmers also use ancestral farming methods to preserve the soil better such as crop-rotation. Cotton as a material is also soft and breathable, making it a perfect choice for something that sits on our skin for a long period of time.

Why linen?

A natural fibre which comes from the flax plan, linen uses less energy and water than regular cotton or polyester to produce. Flax plants also have a high rate of carbon absorption, making them great for combatting CO2. While most linen tends to be stiff, ours is ultra soft and provides breathability for those summer months.

Each year we’ve been taking steps to ensure we are improving our collections. Our aim is to reduce our use of virgin synthetic fibres as much as possible, replacing them with organic and recycled alternatives. This Summer we’ll be introducing some of our favourite lingerie shapes in organic fabrics too.
