We speak to @stylemesunday about the pros and cons of a routine mostly spent at home...
So, how are you feeling?
“I’m incredibly up and down, minute by minute, hour by hour and day by day.”
What have you been doing day-to-day, and how has this changed in comparison to your usual routine?
“I’m homeschooling my children now, this is the biggest change to my day to day routine and we’re around the house all day, every day instead of going out to meetings, events and socialising with friends in the evening. It has its pluses and minuses.”
What have you learnt about yourself since the virus started?
“I’ve learnt that I’m pretty bloody adaptable, and I like a challenge. I’ve learnt that I was running away from a lot of things that needed addressing.”
What have you learnt about society and the people you know, since the virus started?
“I’ve learnt that people process things in different ways and at different times and that that’s ok. I’ve learnt that people are just doing their best to survive and most people are actually incredibly kind and good-natured. I’ve learnt that the only thing that really matters is connection and that people will always and only remember how you made them feel, not what you looked like or how beautifully your toenails were manicured. I’ve learnt that in the end only you can save you and in order to do that you need to dig deep and let go of your ego.”
How do you see the future, once this is all over? Do you want to go back to normal, or do you envisage change within your own life?
“I’m a little bit scared of it going back to normal tbh, I think this was a major wake up call both personally and for the world. I don’t want to be running around like a headless chicken everyday when things do return to normality. One thing I will make sure I do is carry on with is meditating everyday in the morning. Even if it’s only for 10 minutes I will make it a priority in my life from now on.”
