A conversation with Kate, founder of Wild Source.

We speak to Kate, founder of Wild Source, on why she set up the brand, her biggest learning experiences since running a natural skincare business and the importance of self-care and relaxation.

How would you describe yourself and what you do today?

I'm Kate, founder of Wild Source Skincare. I create organic, ritual-focused skincare that transforms everyday routines into moments of deep connection-with yourself, your skin and your nervous system. After seven years of building this brand, I'm equal parts formulator, storyteller, and wellness advocate. I work with luxury hotels, retailers like Liberty London and Selfridges and directly with customers who are looking for something more intentional in their beauty routine. I'm also a mother, which has completely reshaped how I think about self-care and what it means to come home to yourself.

What inspired you to set up your brand, Wild Source?

Wild Source was born from a desire to create skincare that was both luxurious and intentional-grounding rituals with ingredients as close to source as possible. I couldn't find a brand that offered that; everything felt like a compromise. I wanted to create skincare that didn't just treat the surface but nourished the whole system. After becoming a mother, I rebranded with a deeper intention: to make beauty a vessel for connection and grounding. Every product is designed to help you slow down, breathe and anchor into the present moment. It's skincare, yes, but it's also a practice.

What have your biggest learning experiences been since launching a new business?

Learning to widen the funnel has been huge. When you're bootstrapped with a small product range, growth feels slow and intentional by necessity. I've had to get creative with customer acquisition- maintaining direct conversation with our community, building genuine relationships with therapists and wellness spaces, and learning that content isn't just about marketing, it's connection. Another big one has been outsourcing. I've spent years doing everything myself, and I'm finally learning that letting go actually helps the business grow. Lastly, learning to be visible. Showing up as the founder, sharing my story-that's been the most rewarding shift.

How has running a business changed you personally?

It's made me braver and more grounded at the same time. I've had to confront my own procrastination, self-doubt and fear of being seen. Running Wild Source has taught me to trust my intuition, to move through discomfort and to build something that reflects my values-not what I think I should be doing. Motherhood and business have mirrored each other in that way. Both have asked me to slow down, to be present, and to stop apologising for taking up space. I'm more intentional now, in everything I do

What are the core values of Wild Source that underpin everything you do as a brand?

Intentionality, mindfulness, and connection. Every product is formulated with organic ingredients as close to source as possible. They’re designed to be used as a ritual-not rushed through. We're about slowing down, nourishing your nervous system, and creating space for yourself. Sustainability matters too-we don't use additional product boxes, we ship with compostable materials, and we're transparent about our ingredients. I'm not trying to be the biggest brand; I'm trying to be the most meaningful one.

Having your own brand can be all consuming. How do you take time for yourself to unwind?

Meditation and movement are non-negotiables for me. I start most mornings with a workout and meditation-it's how I come back to myself before the day pulls me in different directions. I also walk in nature as often as possible, journal and make sure I’m in bed most nights reading by 9pm.  I start my wind-down ritual with skincare. That nightly moment with Night Nectar or Miracle Oil isn't just skincare-it's my reset. I’m learning to time-block my days so I'm not always in reactive mode and I'm learning to give myself permission to rest without guilt. It’s all a work in progress!

What’s coming up next for you and for Wild Source?

We have some very exciting new launches next year which I'm really excited about. It feels like a natural evolution for the brand, bringing that same ritual and intentionality into a fuller sensory experience. Personally, I'm constantly evolving, navigating what it means to be both a mother and a founder. My wellness and quality of life are absolute priorities, so slowing down and learning to let go are very much part of the journey. It's about building a business that supports the life I want to live, not the other way around.
