We caught up with @esteelalonde to see how she’s keeping positive...
So, how are you feeling?
“I think like most people I have good days and bad days. I live alone and I’m quite a social person so it has been really tough to get used to. I’ve definitely been trying to stay positive and do things throughout the day to help boost my mood.”
What have you been doing day-to-day, and how has this changed in comparison to your usual routine?
“Every morning when I wake up I walk my dog which has been amazing! There are so many birds chirping at this time of year and I’ve definitely noticed it much more than ever before. When I get home I like to stretch my body for about 20 minutes just to help me get in the right frame of mind. I’ve also started jogging which I never would have believed before!
Besides trying to stay as active as possible, I have been doing a lot of reading, spring cleaning and general organising just to help make my space feel great to be in.
I have worked from home for years so in that sense not much has changed. I think if anything I’m more focused!”
What have you learnt about yourself since the virus started?
“I’ve learned that I enjoy being social more than I thought I did. I’m an introverted person by nature, but I miss my friends, I miss going out to the pub and I miss hugging people. I’ve also learned that alone time is essential to growth. I think I’m starting to understand the balance that I need in my life going forward.”
What have you learnt about society and the people you know, since the virus started?
“I think it’s pretty cool that the world has worked together to help solve this. I love seeing all of the positive content and creative ways people are helping each other through this difficult time.”
How do you see the future, once this is all over? Do you want to go back to normal, or do you envisage change within your own life?
“I have absolutely no idea. I miss so many things about “old life”, but I also see that the planet has benefitted so much from humans doing less. There must be a balance to be had.”
