DL Reflections on 2020

Stories-DL Reflections on 2020 - Dora Larsen | Colourful Lingerie

2020. It’s been a year. We speak to four of our favourite creatives to find out what they learnt this year, and what they’ll doing more of in the new year.

Whilst much of our feelings towards what’s happened over the past 9 months has seemed negative, we found that some things have in fact, changed for the better. Whether that’s been the ability to spend more time with loved ones, or find a hobby we didn’t realise we had a passion for.

Alexandria Coe, Artist

“2020 has taught me a lot about myself. When would we ever have this time to sit down and face the things we have been avoiding. Sometimes we need distance and time to be able to grow and although it feels like nothing happened this year, I think I grew a lot. I am looking forward to embracing a new year as the new me.”

Genevieve Richardson, Writer and Editor

“What I learnt in 2020 was that our always on, hustle culture is deeply unhealthy. We have to take time to rest and relax and not see that as unproductive. I’ll be carrying my creative side into the new year.”

Rebecca Munroe, Film Maker

“I learnt that I have an innate need to create and practise my art, more out of enjoyment and self-exploration than anything else. Expression needs to come first, I will be taking that with me into 2021.”

Mafalda Silva, Photographer

“This year, like most people, I’ve learned to slow down and not take things for granted. In 2021, I would like to carry on living each day as it comes, to be more present and to stress less about the future.”
